NRHA Annual Conference: "Protecting Indiana Newborns"
Jaimee Goodman, Director of Maternal & Child Services at Union Hospital, and Hicham Rahmouni, Lugar Center Director, were invited to speak at the National Rural Health Conference Annual Conference, in New Orleans on May 10, 2018. “Protecting Indiana’s Newborns” (slides available here) shared the lessons learned from Union Health’s regional efforts to decrease infant mortality. It also provided attendees with evidence-based tools and insights to help them address this tragedy. You can learn more about the Perinatal Navigation (Safety PIN) project by visiting the initiatives page.
The session’s primary objectives were to (1) Identify the leading risks and indicators for infant mortality; (2) Use risk stratification algorithms to identify and target patients for interventions; (3) Use tools and insights to help them address the tragedy of infant mortality locally.
This project was made possible thanks to generous funding from the Indiana State Department of Health, Maternal and Child Health Division (Safety PIN grant).
